For a step-by-step tutorial, click on the Help Center screen in the lower right-hand corner of any page on our website (the tab may say Get Started).
To get started creating a trip:
First, click on the Trip Planner button at the top or middle of the page.
Then, at the top of the page, select either "Custom Trip" or "GenieJourney." "Custom Trip" means that you create your trip by adding stops you want to make. "GenieJourney" uses AI and Natural Language processing to help you create a trip by adding a brief description of what you want.
If you select "Custom Trip," follow these steps:
1. Add any destinations you definitely want to go to (including starting and ending points).
2. Under "Routing Options," find "Average Miles."
3. Under "Average Miles," enter the maximum driving distance you prefer to drive each day.
4. Press the Create Trip button.
5. Your trip will appear. You may see some auto-generated stops (based on your desired Average Daily Distance) called GenieStops.
6. You can then add or edit stops, select campgrounds for each stop, add POIs to stops, and add dates to each stop/stay. You can also generate GenieWishes (an AI-powered tool) to learn about things that would interest you at each stop.
If you select "GenieJourney," follow these steps:
1. First, check out the "Example Searches" on the left-hand column on the lower half of the page. Click on "View Trip" to see the trip created by the "Example Searches."
2. Now, create your own trip description using the same style description as the "Example Searches" and then press enter or "Create Trip."
3. Your trip will appear. You may see some auto-generated stops (based on your desired your Average Daily Distance) called GenieStops.
6. You can then add or edit stops, select campgrounds for each stop, add POIs to stops, and add dates to each stop/stay. You can also generate GenieWishes (an AI-powered tool) to learn about things that would interest you at each stop.
NOTE: You may also consider creating a trip starting with a GenieTrip. See the related FAQ:
